HOBBY INFO & LINKS This page contains useful information about various aspects of the model horse hobby and some of useful links to help you seek out sales, artists, resources, etc. within this hobby. HOBBY INFO Live Show Quality Guidelines by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig A MUST READ article for anyone who wishes to purchase, create, or show models in regards to "LSQ" quality. Please note article is in pdf format. Photo Showing: MEPSA-(Model Equine Photo Showers Association) great place to start out photo showing then take your photos to the next level when ready, small fees on their photo shows, but great judges and year round photo shows on nearly a monthly basis for qualifications into their show year ending championship show. Has Novice and Open divisions. So a great place for all showers. IMEHA-(International Model Equine Hobbyists Association)-has lots of info on showing, judging, and even its own photo shows! Membership is free into this group! Shows tend to be bi-monthly. TOPSA-(Totally Online Photo Showing Association)-has a small annual fee, but is generally a nice place to show. Please note this seems to be higher 'caliber' showing though. Seems a bit difficult for novices or newcomers to do well at times. But, that perhaps is typical of live showing too so good place to 'get your feet wet' before live showing. Shows tend to be held bi-monthly with judging occurring in the in-between months. Link may be old site. Haven't found the new one yet. Does have its own YahooGroup that keeps up-to-date though. Live Showing: NAMHSA (North American Model Horse Showers Association) -the main group that many live shows tend to affiliate with. this is the group that does NAN cards and qualifies shows for such. win a NAN card at a live show and qualify that model to go to NAN/Nationals!
Collecting: Official Breyer website-the main site for Breyer. Lists models, news, etc. dealing with Breyer. Does NOT sell models from their site though. Official Peter Stone website-the main site for Peter Stone models. Does sell a few select models from their site, also contains link to their ebay store where they sell most their models these days Pricing/Reference Guide for Peter Stones-perhaps the most thorough reference guide in cyberspace for Peter Stone models. Great way to identify models, how many produced, and some price scales for value estimates Pricing/Reference Guide for Breyers-the Ponylagoon is the probably the most thorough Breyer reference online. Contains mold info, what's been made on each mold, general value estimates, etc. Equine Resin Directory-great reference site for all the various artist resins out there from minis to traditional scales. How to's: Model Horse Guide-geared towards the novice in the hobby, but contains info on pedigree assignments, mohair customizations, and so much more! a great place to start out!
