Site Rules

RULES FOR LINKING:

I do have a banner and/or buttons on my mainpage and Links page for linking to my site. You may use these. But, DO NOT DIRECT LINK since it steals bandwidth from my site here and will affect the amount and type of content I can display here. Also link ONLY to the MAINPAGE (www.chaoswolf.com).

BORROWING RULES FOR THIS SITE:

I have been getting numerous emails about the borrowing of my images, etc. I find this very courteous and respectful, but having to reply to each and every one of these is becoming very time consuming for me. It takes time away from  getting new stuff up and working on other things. So, here's a page that hopefully will clarify what you can and cannot borrow from my sites and the guidelines you should follow if you wish to submit something to me. Please note, I have a gripe about people not reading and following directions properly. I find it lazy and disrespectful. So, please read and follow the directions on this page.

Rules for borrowing images:

You may borrow up to two images from each of my sites as long as they do NOT fit in the categories below. I do not allow more than two since I'm trying hard to maintain uniqueness & originality. And of course, with ANY images borrowed, you must credit where you got them. That means you must either place my site's name and /or link on the very SAME page that the pic is being used on. Most images that I will allow you to borrow are located in the image galleries of my sites and any that I specifically say you may borrow such as link banners, etc. I will also specify in spots where I may have gotten permission to borrow pics, etc.and will usually have a link to the site I borrowed it from. You need to ask the webmaster of that particular site to borrow that pic in question just as I did.

Pics that you can NOT borrow (so don't even ask):
-fanart of any sort (you must specifically ask the artist's permission to borrow such)
-my "homemade" banners and any graphics that pertain to the site's look/theme (such as title banner at top of this page)
-my "modified" pics (those are pics that I have altered or collaged together for some special reason similar to title and page pics)
-doujinshi images

If you are unsure of a pic, then email me about it. Mention exactly which pic it is so I can tell you yes or no. My email addy is on the main pages of my site and in the "Contact Info" section of my sites.

Rules for borrowing fanfics:
Like fanart, you may NOT borrow fanfics without the expressed permission of the author. If it's me, then email me and let me know which fanfic it is you are interested in. I usually only give permission to link to a particular fic rather than having the entire fic posted on another site. This helps prevent plagarism, which is on the increase these days.  I will ask you to give me the url of the site you wish to place the story link on. There's too many people stealing fanfics and calling them their own, so I'm very paranoid about lending my stories out unless the rules above are followed.

Rules for borrowing information:

The information about the series, etc. is technically for all to use as are the general images in the image gallery unless specifically noted. Most of which I gathered from source books and magazines or official sites. I know some sites are very fussy about the borrowing of information from their sites, but honestly, it's not their information anyway. Since they do not own the series, etc. then they got their information from another source too. They can't claim it as their own. Only those who own rights to the series can do such (the so-called "official" sites). But still, common respect is to ask. I give you permission right here and now to use bits from my character info, show info, etc. from my site if you wish. But that doesn't mean word for word (no copy & pasting!) or the taking of ALL my info. Put the info into your OWN words! A common courtesy, however, is to respect the effort the work someone put into researching and gathering that info so you could see it. So, again credit where you got the info from either by link or mentioning the site name on the page you use it on. One must do that in school when doing research papers, and the same rule technically applies to web info too.

Q & A

This section is where you will find the questions and answers to some things I have been emailed over the years.

Will you help me with my website, HTML, etc. (or story)?
While I would love to, this is something you need to learn on your own. I have very little time to work on mine as is. I learned by reading tutorials online and in books. It takes time, but you'll get more out of it if you learn on your own. You'll respect yourself better and your work will be worth more to you. Many web site editors such as Microsoft FrontPage or Adobe PageMill will assist you in many web site design functions and they have tutorials too.

As for stories...you have to develop your own writing skills, styles, and ideas. For writing skills and styles...this is often taught or discovered while in your education/schooling in whatever form or language it may be in.  Proper grammar, expression, spelling, etc. are taught in the same classes. Ideas come from your own head. And as with anything, the more you practice, the better or at least more comfortable you will get with your writing. But remember, there is NO EXCUSE for bad spelling unless you are writing in a language that is not your main language. Don't be lazy. If you don't know how to spell a word, well, that's what spellchecks and dictionaries are for.

Can my website be an affiliate of yours?
I do NOT do affiliates. To me, affiliation is favoring one or more sites over others. I don't believe in that. Everyone is different and I respect everyone's creativity and skills by treating them all as equals. Not everyone has the money, time, or skills to bang out a totally cool, awesome site. So, I don't judge sites by making them meet some standard. I will gladly link you in my Links sections, my only rule is do NOT copy other people's works. Do not steal their unique ideas, layouts, etc. Create your own. Your brain will let you if you give it a chance.
Can I borrow images or fanfics from your site?
I have a whole section devoted to these questions if you scroll to the top of this page. Please go to this section before emailing me. If you do email me and I don't respond, it's likely because I know I've answered it somewhere in this section or another.

When is this (insert name) section or story going to be updated?
If you read the info sections (Rules, About Site, About Me,etc.) then you'll know that I work on this site alone. I also have a life outside of the internet. I don't spend countless hours on my butt in front of the computer. I  actually enjoy doing outdoor physical activities for fun and fitness and spend most of my free time doing such. Plus, I work full time for a living. But enough about basic reasons. Sometimes I just don't feel like writing a certain story or updating a certain section at any given point in time. That's the power of being the site's OWNER & WRITER. So, please be respectful to me and my ordeals in life. Emailing me complaining or asking about specific stories, etc. will only make me mad and delay the updates of those sections or stories even more.
